Been Awhile

It has been forever since I last posted.  So many things have change for the good.  I'm happy to announce the growing line of Grain Free treats we now offer.  Plus after much discussion with "the boss" Nanqu we have added meaty flavor treats.

We are currently looking forward to another wonderful Farmers Market season!

Down Time

This past weekend you could find us at the Rockaway Holiday Bazaar and Seaside Holiday Gift Fair.  It was a very long weekend but it started 2 weeks before hand with all the prep and baking I needed to do.  Yep 2 shows in one weekend so that meant ALOT of baking plus I did pre-orders for everyone so they could come and pickup.  Several people were so glad I offered the pre-order this way they were guaranteed the flavors they wanted.  These were the last shows I will be doing for the year, now some needed down time then the fun begins.

Market Season Starting

Can you believe it's already May!  It seems hard to believe but with the start of May comes the start of many of the Farmer's Markets all over the nation.  One of my favorite to participate in is Astoria Sunday Market and opening day lands on Mother's Day this year!  What a great thing to do with mom, you can come and walk the market and then pickup a nice lunch.  One of the things I love about Astoria is the vendors, I have known many of them since I was little so they always give me a hard time but it's all in fun and if I need help all I have to do is ask.  Not only are the vendors great but the market manager Cyndi.  This is a true test to the quality of a farmer's market.  Cyndi has always been helpful, willing to help and a joy to work with.  Believe me I have had to deal with plenty of market managers some good and some bad.  Putting a market on is far from easy and burn out can be easy, just like with any event.
Well I better get back to baking...I'm working on something extra special for opening day!!

Cheezy Pawz

What do you think of when you hear Tillamook?  The most common answer is Tillamook Cheese and Ice Cream.  What would be the most perfect treat to have when you live in Tillamook.  That's right cheese and most importantly Tillamook Cheese.  

I created not only a wonderful cheese treat but a grain free one!! Yes, made with real Tillamook Cheese straight from the Cheese Factory.

Meet Ruby

 

I don't think you have had the chance to meet Ruby.  She has been part of our family for about 2 years now.  One night she showed up in our driveway in the middle of the night.  Ruby quickly mad herself right at home and Nanqu was so excited to have a playmate.  I looked for her family without any success and I didn't have the heart to take her to a shelter.  Ruby has been a challenge to say the least.  When she came she was a very sick girl with salmon poisoning but with a lot of care and love she got better.  Now she not only helps taste test all of the treats but she would tell you she is the "Head Toy Tester".  Yes, Ruby has come a long ways from that night she made us her new family!

Getting Ready For Market

I've sent in my application for Astoria Sunday Market.  One of my favorite things about the market is getting to see everyone and telling people about my treats.  You would be surprised how many people don't know what is in the treat they are feeding.  I guess my favorite part is how excited the dogs get when they get a sample.  This year I will be starting May 12 and going to at least the middle of September.
I do have plans on being at the Manzanita Farmers Market and Tillamook Farmers Market but the applications aren't up yet so I'll keep you posted.

Tasty Chicken

So here's a treat recipe.

Tasty Chicken

1 cup shredded chicker
1/2 cup chicken broth
3 cups flour
1 egg
2 tbs oil

mix all together, you might need to add water
roll out and cut out shapes

bake at 350F for 15 min.  You might need to adjust the time.
